Great reader and syncing tool. Great for syncing your library with the Kindle device and on Windows. Everything is great, but the probl em I had is that the app displays only the purchased book, not the documents you've manually sent to the device. Pros: Syncing. Reading is very comfortable. Interface is awesome! Cons: Doesn't sync documents that weren't purchased in Amazon More.
Good for casual reading, but bad for in-class discussions. I bought a hybrid tablet with the intention to treat it as an ebook reader, in particular those brought off of Amazon. While it's fine as it is when you're just casually reading books, but utterly useless if you have the ebook in front of you and everyone else around you has the physical copyand the lecturer refers to "pages of the book" on his or her powerpoint.
The only thing you can probably do is to "look up key words" which may or may not work, causing you to fall behind in the discussion.
Come on! You can do better than this! Pros: Ease of use, for non-academic reasons. Cannot stress it enough. Kindle for Windows 8 needs to permit page numbers in the books.
Kindle for Windows 8 is not useful for the academic or other researche r. It is the only kindle reader that does not permit you to find page numbers. Additionally, you cannot cut and paste quotations. You may highlight and find your highlights on the kindle web page and then cut and paste. So it is a poor academic and research tool. Cons: Page numbers.
